2006/2007

Happy New Year to one and all.

Three Little Bears

And where it the Little Bear who thinks things will be just fine for 2007?

Associated Press Spins in Two Directions at Once: "

It’s the same poll, but the AP’s two stories couldn’t be more different. On December 30: AP poll: Americans optimistic for 2007.

And on December 31, after the editors apparently decided their first take was too positive: Poll: Americans see gloom, doom in 2007. (Hat tip: IRIS.)

Blizzard of 1913

Great link.

Antique Denver blizzard photos: "Xeni Jardin:

BB reader Mike says,

I like the pictures of a 1913 Denver blizzard that Flickr user etching has posted in his stream. (Just in his stream, not grouped, unfortunately.) It's a kind of silent editorial on the thousands and thousands of pics of the current mess. I didn't know that the buried car shot was actually a hundred years old, but I suspected as much. And I wish people still sledded down 8th Ave.

    iChat update

iChat Can’t Connect? Getting the Dreaded “User Has Declined Your Invitation” or Error -8? Here’s Why!: "Are you one of those people for whom iChat audio and video chatting used to work, but suddenly it has stopped working, for no apparent reason? Are you getting 'user has declined your invitation' or 'communications error' errors, or maybe even the dreaded 'error -8'? Have you changed nothing at all on your end, but suddenly you simply can't audio chat or video chat with some people - or maybe anybody? Well, you're not alone."

    iChat

Apparently there is a current challenge with making voice or video connections over iChat. I just had an opportunity to do a test with a friend of mine in the Bay area and we were unable to connect. Anyone else out there having a similar challenge?

    Blood banks.

We often think about the gas stations and grocery stores and the lack of supplies after storms. This is a great reminder.

Blood banks, hospitals try to replenish supply after storm: "DENVER (AP) - Blood supplies were running below normal at Colorado hospitals after last week's blizzard kept donors away, and the state's primary blood-collection agency said its supplies have fallen by nearly half."

    So, what'd you get?

Zip, Nada, Zilch. (In the gift department. I did have the day off and got to spend time with a portion of the family.)

    So, what'd you get?: "

    Filed under:

We all know giving is better than receiving, but receiving is pretty freaking rad too, especially when you've been passing around Engadget gift guides to the fam. And now, as we ask every year: what'd you get this holiday season?

P.S. -Don't forget to check out what people got in the dark ages, namely 2005 and 2004.

Another 'major winter storm' possible later this week

O'Yippie! (Of course it might or might not hit us, as currently it's all just a prediction.)

Another 'major winter storm' possible later this week: "DENVER - With snow still piled up from last week's blizzard, another snowstorm is predicted to hit the metro area on Thursday and Friday."

Plows make just one pass down side streets

This is not going to sit well with anyone. We've not seen a plow on our street since the blizzard, and according to the story apparently we won't.

Plows make just one pass down side streets: "DENVER - Many people living in the metro area are still trying to dig out of side streets that have not been plowed."
